| What is batik? I sketch each design on the clothing first with pencil, then in hot wax. Each piece is then dyed using a low-emersion dye technique that produces many shades of the same color. Some feature more than one color. The waxed design remains white, after it's been boiled out. Each piece has been washed at least 3 times to avoid bleeding. Procion dyes provide brilliant, colorfast shades that won't fade with washing. |
